Machu Picchu Protest

We protest William Montalbano’s Nov. 23 article on the Machu Picchu bus trip. We made the trip on two separate days last April and experienced none of the troubles described. We had to relate to the exacting schedule of the tourist trains, with many more passengers than seats, but at the station our groups was promptly put into buses and taken up to the ruins.
Since we couldn’t stay at the hotel without prebooking, we had to walk back along the railroad track through three dripping tunnels and found clean accommodations at the efficiently run youth hostel at Agua Caliente. A delightful experience. Back next day to Machu Picchu with no bus trouble at all.
