A liquor store owner has been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of his seriously burned wife in connection with a deliberately set fire that engulfed the couple’s home, authorities said Monday.

Anaheim Police Lt. Bill Wright said Won Sook Kim, 46, suffered second- and third-degree burns over 30% of her body in the fire that erupted about 4 p.m. Sunday. She was listed in serious condition Monday in the burn unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Wright said her husband, Kun Ha Kim, 50, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and arson and was being held at the Anaheim City Jail on $250,000 bail.

According to Wright, police and firefighters arrived at the Kims’ burning home in the 500 block of South Sonya Street, where they found both the man and his injured wife outside. Firefighters brought the blaze under control a short time later.

Wright said that Kim was arrested after investigators determined that a flammable liquid was poured throughout the house and then ignited. Kim, who police said owns a liquor store, told officers that the couple had been arguing.
