A Hayward woman who shot her husband to death, then hid his body under their home for eight years, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Richard Bancroft sentenced Faye McCabe, 40, who was convicted of the December, 1976, slaying of James Flores, 30. Deputy Dist. Atty. Ken Burr said McCabe told a girlfriend that she shot her husband because he was going to leave her and she would have been penniless. In 1984, he said, McCabe told the same friend that she was looking for someone to move his body and also to kill her second husband. “The girlfriend took it very seriously and called police,” Burr said. Flores’ body was discovered under a crawl space beneath the couple’s bedroom in June, 1984. Defense attorney L. Jeannette Clark said she will appeal the conviction. Bancroft set bail at $800,000 pending the appeal.
