‘Job Search for Older Workers’ Offered Free by Downey Agency

Share

The “Job Search for Older Workers” program is now being offered free to those over the age of 40 by the Placement Service for Older Workers in its local office. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 22 at Apollo Park, 12458 Rives St.

Job Search is designed to help older workers in developing skills which will enable them to find a job in the least possible period of time. Fears, such as being too old that no employer will want to hire them, are discussed and a facilitator leads the group in discovering new ways to overcome these feelings. Participants can then go on to identify skills and practice up-to-date telephone and interview techniques.

The service is funded with federal Job Training Partnership Act monies through the County of Los Angeles, the Southeast Los Angeles County Service Delivery Area and the Foothill Employment and Training Consortium.
