Fullerton : Placentia Man to Head Academy of Optometry
The American Academy of Optometry has elected Frank A. Brazelton, a professor at Southern California College of Optometry here, as its new president.
Brazelton, a Placentia resident, will serve a two-year term as head of the 3,000-member body, which promotes research, education and a higher level of standards in optometry. It was founded in 1922.
Brazelton has taught at the college since 1952 and is the first faculty member to be elected president of the national organization. A professor of optometry since 1965, he is associate dean for faculty affairs.
Brazelton has been a member of the American Academy of Optometry since 1955 and has been active in several committees. He served on the body’s executive council for 10 years. He is a past president of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.
