Israel’s Foreign Ministry has adopted a new policy banning Israeli officials and specialists from visiting South Africa, state television reported. It said the new edict will permit official trips to Pretoria only under “vital circumstances.” The ministry will also ask cultural delegations and private citizens to avoid travel to South Africa to protest that government’s apartheid policy, the television said. However, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said he knew nothing about the reported new policy.
