Whites Identified in S. Africa Death
Four young white men have been identified as being in a car that ran down a black domestic worker in Pretoria, but they have not been arrested or charged, two newspapers reported Sunday.
The Sunday Star in Johannesburg and the Sunday Tribune in Durban said that Maria Rametsi, 58, died Jan. 2 of her injuries.
They quoted an unidentified police spokesman as confirming that police have the names of the men, all about 18 years old, but are awaiting more statements from witnesses before prosecution.
One witness said Remetsi was sitting alone under a tree when “they drove straight into her and then revved the car on top of her when they had difficulty getting it over her.”
