Reagan, Aides Discuss Iran Recollections

President Reagan has discussed his recollections of the Iran- contra affair with Chief of Staff Donald T. Regan and White House counsel Peter Wallison to help construct an official chronology of related events, a White House spokesman said today.

Deputy Press Secretary Albert R. Brashear, who last week indicated that Reagan had not held such meetings, said today that he did not know the exact dates of the sessions or the specific questions discussed. He said Regan had spoken with the President “at some length toward the end of November.”

Reagan, who returned Monday from a three-day holiday weekend at Camp David, Md., has not answered questions from reporters about the matter since a presidential news conference last Nov. 19.

Brashear said the President had discussed issues that were expected to be brought up during an anticipated interview with the members of the Tower Commission, which is looking into the role of the National Security Council.

The spokesman said the interview with the panel headed by former Sen. John Tower (R-Tex.) is expected to take place “in the next couple of weeks.”

“When he does meet with the Tower Commission, you can assume he will have had a chance to go over with Peter Wallison and his staff that chronology which they are in the process of preparing for him,” Brashear said.

Last week, Brashear said no high-level interviews with the President about his recollections of the affair had taken place.
