Thousands of commuters struggling through a fourth day of a strike on the Long Island Rail Road were hit by more delays when a broken subway track slowed the morning rush into Manhattan. One union representing 821 workers announced it had reached a tentative agreement with the railroad. But Edward Yule, head of the United Transportation Union, said the pact he would bring before his members for approval had little significance until the LIRR reached agreement with 10 other unions representing 5,800 workers.
