The award-winning series “Police Story” is being revived in a three-hour film for NBC, tentatively called “Police Story II.” Richard Crenna and Angie Dickinson will star as officers involved in tracking down a serial killer. Dickinson’s old series “Police Woman” was developed from the original “Police Story.”

Michael McKean, who used to play Lenny on “Laverne & Shirley,” will play twin brothers in “Double Agent,” a TV movie for ABC. It’s for “The Disney Sunday Movie” and involves a mild-mannered veterinarian who is called on to step in for his sophisticated brother, a spy, when the latter disappears right before an important government mission.

In another production for “The Disney Sunday Movie,” Wil Wheaton from “Stand By Me” is playing “Young Harry Houdini.” ABC describes the project as “a fictionalized account of an adventure that changed the life of the world’s most famous escape artist.” Jose Ferrer also stars.

Great performers will be featured on the PBS series “Great Performances” in February. Lord Laurence Olivier will be seen Feb. 6 in John Fowles’ “The Ebony Tower.” The next week, on Feb. 13, Sir Alec Guinness and Leo McKern will appear in Graham Greene’s “Monsignor Quixote.” Then on Feb. 20 comes Jean Simmons in “December Flower.”

People: Bob Woodward, the Washington Post reporter who helped break the Watergate scandal, had a hand in writing the “Hill Street Blues” episode that will air on NBC Feb. 3. . . . Ray Charles and Geraldine Fitzgerald will be the guest stars in the Feb. 4 installment of NBC’s “St. Elsewhere”. . . . Mary Lou Retton has signed on with NBC to be a commentator at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.

The second of Showtime’s Harlequin romance movies is coming up on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. It is called “Cloud Waltzing” and features former “Dynasty” star Kathleen Beller as an American journalist who falls for a French millionaire played by Francois-Eric Gendron.
