A Boeing 747 cargo plane loaded with cattle veered off a taxiway at Anchorage International Airport and plowed into a snowbank today, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Flying Tigers charter Flight 5001, with a crew of three and 120 cows, was turning from a taxiway onto a runway when it slid part of the way off the icy pavement into the snow, airport manager Guy Russo said. Some of the cattle had to be unloaded so workers could get the Tokyo-bound plane back onto the taxiway by using air bags to raise the jet from the snowbank.
