Man Jailed for Posing as Contractor, Bilking 8
A Gardena man pleaded no-contest Monday to violating the state Business and Professions Code by passing himself off as a licensed contractor and accepting partial payment for work never completed.
James Bernard Moore, 43, was sentenced to 45 days in jail, five years’ probation and ordered to make a total of $23,000 in restitution payments to eight victims.
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office said Moore told his customers that he was a master carpenter and licensed contractor.
