Local News in Brief : Calabasas Cityhood Qualifies for Ballot
- Share via
Organizers of the Calabasas cityhood drive have obtained enough signatures to call for an election on the issue. The petitions were certified Monday by the county’s Local Agency Formation Commission.
During the signature drive, 2,239 of the area’s 8,186 registered voters in Calabasas signed the cityhood petitions.
Cityhood proponents want the election to be scheduled for November. The next step in the process is a hearing before the Local Agency Formation Commission. If the commission accepts it, the proposal goes to the county Board of Supervisors, whose approval is needed to hold an election. A hearing date has not yet been scheduled.
