Indonesia Disasters Costly

JAKARTA, Indonesia —
This country was hit by five volcanic eruptions, 268 floods, 26 boat sinkings, 594 major fires, 331 typhoons and 115 landslides in 1986, the official Antara news agency said Wednesday. The disasters killed 788 people and injured 534 and destroyed or damaged nearly 40,000 houses, said Antara, quoting Welfare Ministry figures.
