Services Today for Gail Goodrich Sr.

Funeral services will be held at noon today for Gail Goodrich Sr., captain of the 1939 USC basketball team, at the Church of Our Fathers at Forest Lawn in Cypress.

Goodrich, who died Sunday night at age 71, was the father of former UCLA and NBA star Gail Goodrich.

He was active as a volunteer in high school sports in Orange County, especially as a water polo official and basketball coach, serving at Los Alamitos, Cypress and Westminster high schools.

The elder Goodrich died Sunday at Humana Hospital in Huntington Beach, where he had been taken after collapsing during a seniors league softball game that afternoon.

In addition to his son, Gail, of Santa Monica, Goodrich is survived by his wife, Imogene, of Cypress; a daughter, Judy, of Sacramento, and three grandchildren.
