LOS LOBOS

Where has Victor Valle been?

He forgot to mention the other Pride of East L.A.--Tierra! I, and many of Tierra’s fans, are baffled and insulted that the group who opened doors to other Mexican-American and Latinos in the music industry was not even mentioned.

The fact is, Los Lobos was the opening act for many of Tierra’s concerts in L.A. In 1981, Tierra had a Top 10, million-selling record and has had five singles in the national charts. In 1982 they were named best R&B; male group in the country.

I commend Los Lobos for their hard work and talent, but to omit Tierra and other Chicano heroes who have worked hard to overcome many obstacles in the music industry, is inexcusable, to say the least.
