A 33-year-old Leucadia artist was found dead on North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla early Sunday morning near a parked Mercedes-Benz sedan that may have been used to kill her, San Diego police reported.
Pamela Gaye Russ was found on a northbound lane in the 1200 block of the road, north of Torrey Pines Golf Course, by two security guards about 5:10 a.m., coroner’s deputies said.
Police closed part of the busy street for several hours Sunday morning to search for evidence. Investigators said Russ may have been run over by her car after a long altercation with an unidentified suspect. The victim had multiple injuries, coroner’s deputies said, and an autopsy is planned.
San Diego homicide detectives asked motorists who might have observed anything in the area about that time to call the Police Department.
