A Salvadoran army colonel kidnaped by leftist rebels 15 months ago will be freed today as part of an agreement that led to the release last week of 39 wounded guerrillas, a news agency and Roman Catholic Church officials said. An additional 57 political prisoners held by the government will also be released when Col. Omar Napoleon Avalos is freed, said the Salpress news agency, which has ties to the rebel movement. Avalos was abducted from his farm on Oct. 27, 1985, by leftist guerrillas battling President Jose Napoleon Duarte’s U.S.-backed government.
