The new man in charge of the New Orleans Symphony’s shaky finances would rather listen to country singer Willie Nelson than a classic like the “William Tell” Overture. “With all due apologies to the maestro, I’m personally not fond of getting rigged out for concerts,” E.L. (Chick) Williamson, chairman of Louisiana Land & Exploration Co., said last week. Williamson will lead a five-member board which seeks to reorganize the orchestra’s $4-million debt. The symphony missed a payroll last month, the third time this season.
