"Platoon" continued to be the hottest movie on per-theater basis in America. With with more than 300 new screens added to its release Friday, it took over the No. 1 spot on the weekend box-office chart. According to box-office figures collected by Exhibitor Relations Co., the Vietnam combat film grossed $8.4 million in 590 theaters and easily outperformed Disney/Touchstone's new release, "Outrageous Fortune." But Disney cannot feel too bad about being No. 2. The $6.4 million taken in by "Outrageous Fortune" marks the highest opening yet for a Touchstone movie. Other weekend leaders: "Crocodile Dundee" ($2.8 million); "Critical Condition" ($2.6 million); "The Golden Child ($2.3 million); "Star Trek IV" ($2.26 million); "The Bedroom Window" ($1.9 million); "Little Shop of Horrors" ($1.7 million).
