Left Turns
As anyone who drives the streets of Los Angeles knows, making a left turn at a busy intersection is madness. I have a suggestion that I believe will reduce, if not eliminate, this problem.
At all major intersections, the traffic light should stay red in all directions for five seconds while the people making left-hand turns complete their turn. As it stands now, those attempting to make a left-hand turn have to dodge the oncoming traffic and those who are oncoming have to worry about late left-hand turners. The benefits of a brief delay seem obvious.
