Colombia’s ambassador to Hungary, wounded in a Jan. 13 assassination attempt by Colombian drug traffickers outside his Budapest home, was elected chairman of the 32nd U.N. Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna. Enrique Parejo, justice minister before his diplomatic posting, was a tough prosecutor of drug traffickers. Parejo, showing no visible signs of three gunshot wounds to the head in the January attack, received a standing ovation from delegates to the nine-day conference.
