A billboard that once advertised gin and wine only yards from Oakland High School has been replaced by a student-designed anti-drug message. “Oakland High Wildcats just say NO to drugs and alcohol!” was the bold-letter message appearing next to a drawing of teens turning their backs on an outstretched hand offering pills and syringes. “It’s magnificent,” Oakland schools Supt. Joe Coto said of the billboard created by 16 Oakland High students. “If afforded the opportunity, students will do something positive with their skills and energy.” The space, across the street from the school, was donated by Gannett Outdoor Advertising Co.
