GUILD NOMINATIONS FOR BEST TV DIRECTORS TOLD

Donald Petrie received two nominations in separate categories and so did ABC’s “Moonlighting” as the Directors Guild of America announced its nominees for best television directors of 1986.
Petrie was nominated in the nighttime drama category for an episode of NBC’s “L.A. Law” and in the daytime drama category for CBS’ “Have You Tried Talking to Patty?”
The “Moonlighting” episode titled “Atomic Shakespeare” earned a drama nomination for director Will Mackenzie, while the one called “Symphony in Knocked Flat” got one in the comedy division for Paul M. Lynch.
Here is a partial list of DGA nominees. The winners will be named at the 39th annual Guild awards banquet March 7.
Dramatic Specials: Lee Grant, “Nobody’s Child”; Gregory Hoblit, pilot for “L.A. Law”; George Schaefer, “Mrs. Delafield Wants to Marry.”
Comedy: James Burrows, the “Cheers” episode “Tan ‘N’ Wash”; Terry Hughes, the “Golden Girls” episode “Isn’t It Romantic”; Lynch, “Moonlighting.”
Dramatic--Night: MacKenzie, “Moonlighting”; Petrie, the “L.A. Law” episode “The Venus Butterfly”; Mark Tinker, the “St. Elsewhere” episode “Afterlife.”
Dramatic--Day: Catlin Adams, “Afterschool Special--Wanted: The Perfect Guy”; Leslie Hill, “Schoolbreak Special--God, the Universe and Hot Fudge Sundaes”; Petrie, “Schoolbreak Special--Have You Tried Talking to Patty?”
Musical-Variety: Emile Ardolino, “Dance in America: Choreography by Jerome Robbins with the New York City Ballet”; Dwight Hemion, “Neil Diamond . . . Hello Again”; Walter Miller, “Liberty Weekend.”
