Shana Alexander’s Daughter Plunges to Death on Park Ave.

The only child of author Shana Alexander jumped 31 stories to her death from the Park Avenue high-rise where she lived with her mother, police said today.

Katherine Alexander, 25, leaped from the roof of the building at 502 Park Ave., the former Delmonico Hotel, at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Shana Alexander, a former commentator on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” was not in her 21st-floor apartment at the time. The young woman had been under a doctor’s care for psychiatric problems and was distraught, police said.

In a 1985 interview, Alexander said she was “so proud” of her daughter, who had a job driving vans for a touring punk groups, the False Prophets.
