Women’s Basketball : Bruins Face Stanford; 49ers Play at Hawaii Again

The UCLA women’s basketball team, coming off a 12-point win over California, meets Stanford tonight at 7:30 at the Wooden Center in a Pacific 10 Conference game.

The Bruins are 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the Pac-10. Stanford, beaten by USC Thursday night, is 11-9 and 5-5.

The Cardinal beat UCLA, 62-60, on a pair of free throws by Jennifer Azzi with three seconds to play when the teams met at Palo Alto this season.

With her 42-point performance Thursday against Cal, the second-highest total in Bruin history, UCLA forward Dora Dome’s team-leading scoring average jumped from 16.9 to 18.2 points a game.

Meanwhile, fourth-ranked Cal State Long Beach concludes its two-game Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. series in Honolulu tonight against Hawaii. The 49ers won Thursday night, 67-51, to run their record to 20-1 and 10-0 and drop the Rainbow Wahines to 15-5 and 7-4.
