A Princess of a Show at Glendale

Share

“Nobody’s Princess” is the current offering in Glendale Centre Theater’s continuing program of Saturday family matinees. The kid-friendly performance is in-the-round, performed by local community actors and singers.

The play is based on the fairy tale, “The Ordinary Princess,” in which Princess Amy sets her kingdom into an uproar by developing into a plain, freckled-faced and decidedly tomboyish royal offspring. Townspeople and towns-critters--including a dragon-for-hire and a skunk who thinks he’s a squirrel--march center stage to offer their advice on the “problem.”

The 1 1/2-hour performance includes an intermission with snacks available in the lobby. With fully costumed cast (several in animal outfits) and plenty of original songs, this musical is suitable for preschoolers through preteens. The tickets are $5 for adults, $3.50 for children, with reservations suggested. Today’s performance begins at noon. The show continues every Saturday through May 2. Most other matinees begin at 2 p.m. The theater is at 324 N. Orange St. in Glendale. Information: (818) 244-8481.
