Canada Military to Test Women for Combat Role

TORONTO —
Women recruits in Canada’s armed forces may someday have a combat role, the defense minister said last week.
But before any change in the ban on women in combat, a new Canadian Forces Trials Office will test women to make sure their presence would not hamper “operational effectiveness,” Defense Minister Perrin Beatty said.
