Share

Most of the nation had a break from winter as Chinook winds from the Rocky Mountains and a low pressure system over the Plains produced a warm Saturday. Heavy snow was absent from the lower 48 states, but rain fell across much of the South. Temperatures ranged from the mid-40s and low 50s in Minnesota to the upper 50s and 60s across South Dakota and southeastern Montana. Record highs for the date were 59 degrees at Aberdeen, S.D.; 68 at Billings, Mont.; 63 at Des Moines; 50 at Duluth, Minn.; 71 at Lincoln, Neb.; 50 at Madison, Wis.; 53 at Minneapolis; 70 at Omaha; 69 at Sioux City, Iowa, and 65 at Sioux Falls, S.D.
