Seven years after a ship rammed the Sunshine Skyway Bridge over Tampa Bay in Florida, killing 35 motorists, the bridge’s $250-million replacement was dedicated. The new, single span is the longest cable-stayed, concrete segmental suspension bridge in the world, officials said. Thousands of people walked across the 4.1-mile connector between St. Petersburg and Bradenton after it was opened with a parade and a regatta.
