The American Ballet Theatre introduces its $1-million production of Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty” tonight at Chicago’s Auditorium Theater. Sir Kenneth MacMillan staged the show, said to be the most lavish in the company’s history. After the Midwest, the company heads for California, where performances are scheduled for the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles beginning March 3. Performances are also scheduled for San Diego and San Francisco.
