Quality Systems Reports Quarterly Profits Up 20%

Despite declining sales, Quality Systems Inc., a Tustin computer system dealer, said its fiscal 1987 third-quarter profits of $143,400 were up 20% from $119,000 reported in the prior year.

Sales for the period ended Dec. 31 were $2.2 million, down 19% from the year-earlier $2.7 million.

The company attributed its improved earnings to its cost-cutting and automation programs.

For the first nine months of the fiscal year, the company reported net earnings of $490,600, a 90% increase over the $257,500 reported the year before. Sales in the period were $7.4 million, down 4% from the $7.7 million recorded in the year-ago period.

The company packages computer systems and software for medical and dental group practices.
