This time, UC Santa Barbara scored after giving up just four points, not 40. This time, the Gauchos scored 17 points by halftime, not nine.

But the rematch of Cal State Long Beach’s 105-25 women’s basketball win Jan. 29 was basically the same story as Cindy Brown scored 33 points and Penny Toler added 31 as the sixth-ranked 49ers scored a 115-50 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over Santa Barbara Thursday night at Long Beach.

Long Beach (21-2 overall and 11-1 in conference play) hit 65.4% of its field goals on the night, compared to 32.8% for Santa Barbara, and led after the first 20 minutes, 65-17. The Gauchos (4-17, 1-12) finished with 33 turnovers, 18 more than the 49ers.
