Man Is Fatally Injured by Car
A pedestrian was fatally injured Friday afternoon when he stepped from behind a tree on a center divider and into the path of an automobile, Tustin police said.
A coroner’s deputy identified the man as Cecil Ledford, 63, of Tustin.
Tustin police said the driver was westbound on 1st Street, about 100 feet east of Myrtle Avenue, shortly after 3:30 p.m., when Ledford stepped in front of the car.
Orange County paramedics treated Ledford for head injuries and a broken leg before taking him to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he died about 7:30 p.m. The driver was not held and the investigation is continuing, police said.
