COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS : MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 86, Cal Baptist 83--After leading at halftime, 45-39, The Master’s held on in the second half to record an NAIA District III win at home.

Phil Hahn scored 28, Rocky Shipes had 23 and Pete Coeler 19 for The Master’s (5-22, 4-11).

Four players combined for all of Cal Baptist’s points. Barry Deckard had a game-high 30 and teammate Mike Banks had 28. Greg Stopp had 12 and Alex Carter had 13 for Cal Baptist (11-17, 6-9).

Azusa Pacific 73, Cal Lutheran 72--Despite 15 points from forward Steve deLaveaga, Cal Lutheran lost the Golden State Athletic Conference game at Azusa Pacific.

Dave Jacques had 15 points for Azusa Pacific (12-13, 4-2). Cal Lutheran is 10-16, 3-6.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Azusa Pacific 73, Cal Lutheran 49--Kim Peppi was held to 12 points and Gloria Phillipps 10 as Cal Lutheran lost a Golden State Athletic Conference game at Azusa Pacific (12-13, 4-2). Cal Lutheran is 9-16, 4-3.

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS

CS Northridge 168.4, Southern Utah State 153.55, Cal Poly Pomona 60.1--Terisa Lacert, Monica Mayes and Laura Bertussi finished first, second and third in the all-around competition as CSUN easily won the meet at Northridge. Lacert, a freshman, totaled 34.5 points in the all-around and had the top score on the uneven parallel bars with a 8.75 mark.

Mayes scored 33.95 points in the all-around and won the vault with a score of 8.9. Bertussi scored 33.4 in the all-around competition.

BASEBALL

Rainouts--A nonconference game between Cal State Northridge and Pepperdine was rescheduled for March 10 at Pepperdine. Friday’s game between The Master’s and Claremont was postponed. The Master’s also postponed today’s game against Redlands. The games will be rescheduled.
