Huntington Park : Jackson Appointed Mayor

The Huntington Park City Council has unanimously appointed Thomas E. Jackson as mayor and Jack W. Parks as mayor pro tem in a reshuffling of councilmen’s duties. Jackson is taking over the largely ceremonial position of mayor from Herbert A. Hennes Jr., who resigned last week after asking the council to fire Police Chief Geano Contessotto. Hennes’ motion died for lack of a second.
Contessotto and the Police Department are the targets of a district attorney’s investigation and the subject of several lawsuits alleging brutality.
