‘Message for South Africa’

Thank you for publishing Jeane Kirkpatrick’s commentary (Editorial Pages, Feb. 2) on Oliver Tambo, the leader of the African National Congress. I believe that she is entirely correct when she says that “Tambo does not call for equal rights, or equal opportunity, or equal power. He calls for the total destruction of the existing society.”
I am not happy to hear this, but on the other hand, I do know that America is not properly understanding the complicated situation in South Africa.
I believe the United States should not bring pressure to bear on apartheid. What’s more, Bishop Desmond Tutu and Oliver Tambo are totally revolutionary.
