Group’s Lawsuit Challenges Residency of Three Candidates for City Council
An organization calling itself the 10th District Citizens for Good Government filed suit Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court asking that the names of three City Council candidates for the Southwest Los Angeles seat be removed from the April 14 ballot.
The suit contends that the three candidates to succeed David Cunningham--Homer Broome Jr., Myrlie Evers and Nate Holden--do not meet a City Charter requirement that candidates be residents of a district for at least 30 days prior to the first day when candidates can legally declare their intent to run.
Broome, Evers and Holden contend that they have fulfilled the residency requirements.
