Three English soccer fans were stabbed near a stadium in Madrid, Spain, before an exhibition match between Spain and England.

Norman Dean, 19, Ian Bradley, 20, and Stephen Roberts, 27, were taken to the Red Cross Hospital where a spokesman said they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Police said that the attack, apparently carried out by Spanish youths with knives, occurred as the English soccer fans were getting out of two buses.

Meanwhile, police arrested 18 English soccer fans who were on their way to the game. One fan was reportedly carrying a crossbow, and a dozen fans allegedly tried to throw a ticket collector off a train.

Police also picked up six Britons in the northern city of Burgos after they wrecked a discotheque, scratched several parked cars and broken the window of an empty city bus, a British consul spokesman in Bilbao said.
