The Region : School Bus Driver Held in Kidnaping

Share

A school bus driver abducted 10 Santa Ana children and held them for more than an hour, threatening to blow them up, before delivering them to their homes unharmed. Santa Ana Police Lt. Mike Mitchell said Ignacio Granados, 21, picked up the children, all of whom are special education students, at the Glenn Martin School as usual Friday but instead of driving them home took them to Santiago Park where he stopped the vehicle and told his 10-, 11- and 12-year-old passengers he was going to blow them up. Parents alerted police when the children did not arrive home on time, and officers were already searching for the bus by the time Granados finally delivered the children. He was arrested on suspicion of kidnaping.
