Cat Stevens--now known as Yusuf Islam--has settled his $5-million libel suit against the Globe newspaper out of court. The terms were not divulged, but Richard Martens, Islam’s attorney, said his client was pleased with the settlement. In 1984 the Globe ran a front-page headline that read, “Cat Stevens joins the evil Ayatollah.” Islam, a convert to the Muslim faith, charged the article defamed him.
