FDIC announced the failure of an Alabama bank.
The U.S. bank insurance agency closed the First State Bank of Atmore, Ala., the nation’s 28th bank failure so far in 1987. It approved assumption of the bank’s deposit liabilities by the First National Bank of Atmore, said Bill Olcheski, a spokesman for the FDIC in Washington.
