Toronto-based Campeau Corp. acquired the clothing chains in its buyout of Allied Stores Corp. Campeau and shopping mall developer Edward J. DeBartolo, Campeau’s rival in the takeover fight for Allied, are discussing the possibility of joint ownership of Allied. Since winning control of Allied Stores, Campeau has been selling 16 of the company’s 24 store divisions to help meet $1.1-billion in bank financing.
