The United States has requested a meeting of a special General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade committee on aeronautical affairs for March 5 and 6 to discuss the U.S.-European Airbus dispute, a GATT spokeswoman said. The United States charges that the four European partners in the Airbus Industrie consortium--France, Britain, West Germany and Spain--subsidize the development costs of the group’s civil jetliners and are competing unfairly with Boeing and McDonnell Douglas.
