Brian Tribble, charged in connection with the cocaine death of Maryland basketball player Len Bias, surrendered to police Tuesday to face other charges stemming from a police chase Feb. 17.

Tribble, 24, accompanied by his attorney, arrived at the Hyattsville, Md., police station Tuesday morning. He was released on personal recognizance after a brief hearing before a Prince George’s County District Court commissioner, police said.

Tribble was charged with speeding, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding a police officer and turning out the vehicle’s lights to avoid detection in the traffic incident.

He was given permission to retrieve his 1979 Mercedes-Benz, which police had impounded when it was found abandoned after a brief chase through Hyattsville.

A court appearance on the traffic violations, all misdemeanors, will likely be scheduled within the next 60 days, police said.

Tribble faces a trial next month on charges that he supplied the cocaine that led to the death of Bias June 19.
