Robert G. McCaman, who has been a deputy to three Los Angeles County supervisors and now is administrative assistant to Assemblyman Gerald Felando (R-San Pedro), has been named 1986 Citizen of the Year by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Palos Verdes. He will be honored at the chamber’s installation dinner tonight at 6:30 at Los Verdes Country Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Russell Gagliano, owner of a Rolling Hills Estates service station, will be installed as president.

McCaman, 62, a Peninsula resident since 1960, was a deputy to Supervisor Deane Dana and two of his predecessors in the 4th District, Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and James Hayes. McCaman is past president of the Peninsula Symphony, has been on the Norris Community Theatre board, and is active in the Long Beach Civic Light Opera, Navy League and Palos Verdes Breakfast Club. McCaman said he was “pleasantly surprised” by the honor, adding, “Over the years, I’ve given out many scrolls. It’s nice to be a recipient.”
