Steve Bartkowski, released by the Atlanta Falcons last year and expecting to be released by the Rams this season, says he is considering retiring after 12 seasons as a quarterback in the National Football League.

He started six games for the Rams in 1986, but rookie Jim Everett took over late in the season, and Coach John Robinson said, “We’re probably going to let Bart go.”

Bartkowski, 34, said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal: “It’s not a great situation for me. It just doesn’t have the same look to it as it did last year at this time. I’m leaning toward not playing any more football.”
