The board of Purolator Courier Corp., the small-package express-delivery firm that lost $57.6 million last year, met to discuss a takeover proposal by a company it would not identify. The meeting was held “for considering a proposal for the acquisition of the corporation,” Purolator President C. Howard Hardesty said in a news release. An industry analyst who spoke on condition of anonymity said a potential suitor was DHL Worldwide Courier Express, a competitor based in Redwood Shores, Calif. DHL officials had no comment.
