Group to Protest U.S. Aid to Nicaragua Rebels

WASHINGTON —
On Ash Wednesday, March 4, leaders of the nation’s mainline religious bodies are to begin a series of noon prayer vigils at the nation’s Capitol protesting U.S. military support of Nicaraguan rebels.
A religious coalition, including Protestants and Roman Catholics, plans daily worship each Wednesday of the 40-day Lenten period on the Capitol steps, with prayers for a change in U.S. policy and for the sufferers in Nicaragua.
