College Basketball Roundup : Oklahoma Defeated by Kansas St.

Mitch Richmond’s 15-foot jump shot with two seconds remaining lifted Kansas State to a 90-89 victory over No. 12-ranked Oklahoma in a Big Eight game Friday night at Norman, Okla.

It was only the second loss at home for Oklahoma in four seasons.

The shot by Richmond, who finished with 23 points, culminated a comeback that saw the Wildcats erase a nine-point deficit in the final 1:16.

Oklahoma was led by Tim McCallister with 35 points, followed by Harvey Grant with 21. McCallister tried a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer, but it missed.

Norris Coleman added 21 points for the Wildcats.

The loss dropped Oklahoma to 21-7 overall and 9-5 in the Big Eight. Kansas State is 18-9 and 8-6.

Alabama Birmingham 93, Jacksonville 86--Guard Tracy Foster scored 28 points, hitting 6 of 8 three-point shots, to lead the Blazers in a semifinal game of the Sun Belt Conference tournament at Bowling Green, Ky.

In tonight’s championship game, Alabama Birmingham (20-10) will meet Western Kentucky, which defeated North Carolina Charlotte in two overtimes.

With Alabama Birmingham trailing, 56-53, Foster connected on four straight three-pointers in a 12-2 run that gave UAB a 65-58 lead with 10:50 left.

Western Kentucky 99, North Carolina Charlotte 95--Sophomore guard Brett McNeal scored 7 of his career-high 34 points in the second overtime as the Hilltoppers raised their record to 27-7.

Western Kentucky’s Tellis Frank, who had missed 7 of his previous 12 free throws, sank 4 in the final 26 seconds to seal the victory.

Frank finished with 21 points, followed by forward Kannard Johnson with 16 and center Bryan Asberry with 14.
